Free Outdoor Movies in NYC


A great summer activity in NYC is FREE outdoor movie nights. You can watch a movie outside for free pretty much every day of the week. Check out this roundup across all boroughs, and more to be announced!

Manhattan

  • Bryant Park Paramount+ Movie Nights (June 9 - August 11): Bryant Park is celebrating its 31st year of summer movies on the lawn every Monday night. The lawn opens at 5pm, and movies start around 8pm.

  • Free Fridays on the Intrepid (May 23, June 27, July 25, August 22): Monthly series with free admission to the Intrepid. In the summer, there are movies screened on the flight deck starting at sunset featuring classic “ship-themed” films.

  • Oculus Outdoors (June 13 - September 22): Come experience Oculus Outdoors – free, outdoor movie screenings on select Friday nights and Saturday afternoons this summer. This year, they are screening two movies: family-friendly evening flicks on Friday evenings and kid-friendly movies on Saturday matinees. 

  • Roosevelt Island Summer Movie Series (July 11 - August 1): A series of 4 films shown at Southpoint Park on a 40 ft screen

Brooklyn

  • Paramount+ Movie Nights in Brooklyn (June 13 - August 27): This summer, you can catch your favorite films shown in Fort Greene Park, Prospect Park, McCarren Park and Coney Island Beach for free beginning at sunset.

  • Brooklyn Bridge Park Movies with a View (July 10 - August 28): Movies take place Thursdays in July and August at Pier 1 Harbor View Lawn. Doors open at 6:00 PM, movies start at sunset.

  • Habana Outpost (June 29 - October 26): Weekly Sunday night movies at 8pm in Fort Greene

  • Domino Park (July 15 - August 26): On select Tuesday evenings this July and August, Domino Square will transform into an open-air cinema—featuring nightly double features that spotlight films set in and shaped by New York City, for families and cinephiles alike.

Queens

The Bronx

  • Starlight Cinema (September): Family friendly movie series with crafts and music beforehand

VARIOUS

  • Movies Under the Stars (through September): The Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment and NYC Parks bring more than 150 film screenings to parks throughout the five boroughs. Enjoy family-friendly entertainment in the city's parks and playgrounds, ranging from great new movies to all-time classics.
